Cagaya de Oro Sports News!
A seven year old Pauline Grace Quintanilla conquest the Cebu Country Club Juniors Open last Tuesday in Banilad. She was considered as the youngest in the team. She was supposed to join the girls’ 7-8 year old class but then decided to shift to higher age group in order for her to test her development for the year 2015.
She was the Grade 3 pupils of Saint Theresa’s College who chose to join in the girls’ Class D, aged from 9-10 years old.
Her age never hinder her triumph to bring home the award though, and is a qualifier for a championship in Manila. The two-day event at CCC was a qualifying event to the (ICTSI) National Inter-School Finals and was joined by junior golfers from Davao, Bukidnon, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, among others.
It was not new to her to join for the older age group. She actually played over older golfers in the Philippine Golfers Foundation Junior-Masters Qualifier last April at the Mactan Island Golf Club and was able to take a slot as the first runner up, after a very close fight with her other contender.
In the middle of the photo is the eight-year old, Cliff Richard Nuñeza a contender of Kong Hua School from Cagayan de Oro City, currently he is a Grade 3 pupil playing the Class E division, a team from Del Monte of Bukidnon. Fortunately, he won the game in the 6 to 8 years old kids! Beside him is his runners up: Jun Ochiai as the first runner-up and Clement Ordiñeza as the second runner-up, who is also from Del Monte of Bukidnon.
Nuñeza won the 11th Challenge Junior Golf Tournament last Oct. 28 to 30 at the AVGCC golf course in Pardo, Cebu City.
