Letran Knights are the men’s varsity teams of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran that participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines). The native of Cagayan de Oro City is a member of the Letran Knights who made his own name in Letran. He was a fearless attacker and a confident shooter, and that he was named NCAA juniors Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player (MVP).
From Cagayan de Oro he traveled to Manila to try out for Letran’s high school basketball team. Afterwards he was then a member of Letran Knights from Letran Squire, due to his garnered important awards. He is a third year marketing management student who had two more years to play in the NCAA and dream of becoming a PBA player in the near future.
“The risk I took was all worth it,” he said.
He said that the team gain confidence only when they won their third game against San Beda Lions, with 93-83, way back in their journey to championship.
His injury never hinders him to give his all for fpr him he became super aggressive when playing because it is his strength.
Once a joke became a reality – Letran defeated San Beda, a five-time champion, in game three of the NCAA finals.
“The championship experience is different because nobody believed in our team”, said Nambatac. “We proved all our doubters wrong,” he added.
A bigger responsibility awaits him, this year. “We have to defend the crown,” he said.
