CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY news – About 8,000 vendors from this city’s two biggest public markets are expected to use a mobile payment system which will be offered as part of a US-backed initiative later this week.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and local government representatives will brief the vendors on how to speed up their online transactions using their mobile telephones.
Earlier, Cagayan de Oro City (CDO) Mayor Oscar S. Moreno said the City Hall’s mobile payment system is meant to eliminate long lines and waiting hours, particularly for the payment of business and other local taxes.
“With less human intervention, transacting business with the government will be faster and red tape and corruption minimized,” Mr. Moreno added. — Mark D. Francisco
