Filipinos have always loved the idea of grilling and eating grilled dishes. In every corner of the Philippines everyone has their own versions of grilled dishes. Here in Cagayan de Oro, we surely are not exempted to that rule. We always love our sinugbas or grilled dishes.
One particular restaurant that has recently opened caught our taste buds adventure and curiousity. This restaurant is called “Kusina ni Boy Zugba”. The word Zugba is from the Cebuano word “sugba” which means grill. The newest Filipino grill and BBQ restaurant in Cagayan de Oro City. They serve classic Filipino food but the original recipes just leveled up a bit.
BOY ZUGBA in Cagayan de Oro is located along Corrales Avenue near Backyard burger. This area is also tagged as the drinking avenue since there are lots of drinking bars to go to and restaurants to choose from. Going back to Kusina ni Boy Sugba (Boy Sugba’s Kitchen). The restaurant has recently opened but a lot of people are already recommending their place. Each table has “push button” to get the attention of the server, but it was not functioning during our time yet they have crews who were very watchful over their customers. Aside from that, I like their catchy funny quotes that are seen in t-shirts worn by service crews. The quotes can be tacky or we Bisayan call it “Jologs”, romantic or sarcastic.
Looking at their menu makes me feel hungry. We ordered sinuglaw (sinugba & kinilaw in one) and the plated one I forgot the name. Sorry for that ‘coz we were just so hungry that day. I also love their Mais con yelo. By the way it takes 15minute serving time range. The price is right and the ambiance is good. It was totally worth the penny or in our case it’s peso that we spent. So if you haven’t tried any one of Boy Zugba’s menu then it is high time for you to do so.
