For the nine consecutive years the NBA Philippines is coming back in 2016, aiming to encourage young players and coaches to pursue high-level of basketball.
Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines is presented by Alaska is a free and open to boys and girls, age ranging from 10 to 14 years old. This teaches the fundamental skills and core values of the game. This opportunity will enhance the basketball skills of the youth and improve the experiences for the coaches.
The program is comprised of four stages, namely: skills in school and communities, Regional Selection Camps, National Training Camps, and an NBA experience trip. Skills clinics will be held nationwide from January up until April 2016 with stops in places: Bukidnon, Butuan ,Batangas, Cagayan de Oro, Catanduanes, Cavite, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa.
Since the program was introduced in the Philippines in 2007, more than 36,000 players and 2,700 coaches have already participated according to NBA Philippines managing director Carlo Singson. This year’s edition, the NBA is expecting to reach more than 6.5 million youth in 32 countries.
