To augment its new breed of engineers, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is accepting applicants for the third time to fill up 40 vacant positions in the agency.Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson announced that DPWH is “opening the doors to civil engineers, ages 21-25″ to be part of its Cadet Engineering Program (CEP).Applicants need to pass certain requirements and undergo exams and interviews to be conducted by DPWH, in partnership with the First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA).
Apart from they should be BS Civil Engineering graduates, applicants are required to have general weighted average/grade point average (GWA/GPA) and above average rating in the Civil Engineering board exams. DPWH intends to increase the number of young engineers working in the department. Just recently, around 41 civil engineers graduated from the CEP. There is a total of 81 graduates who are now part of DPWH workforce.
Singson said that caravans will be held in selected urban areas all over the country to find qualified applicants.These would be held in Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Baguio and Legazpi.After the selection process, the 40 cadet engineers will undergo six-month intensive training in order to qualify for the job, DPWH said.
