Good news Cagayan de Oro! Scholarships in Teacher Education Program to Upgrade Teacher Quality in the Philippines (STEP UP) is a non-profit organization believing that the “best should teach,”. This coming SY 2016 – 2017 DepEd expects to hire 30,000 new teachers.
STEP UP is accepting 350 career shifters into the Certificate in Teaching Program, an 18¬unit program that will allow college graduates, college teachers, professionals, and graduating non¬-Education students to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
The Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) – the business community’s response to the need for consensus in education reform – has partnered with Department of Education (DepEd) for the Scholarships in Teacher Education Program to Upgrade Teacher Quality in the Philippines (STEP UP).
Launched in April, the STEP UP aims to change the mindset of most Filipinos about teachers and teaching in the Philippines. This year, PBEd is offering 350 scholarships slots to aspiring teachers.
Funded by the Australian Government and administered in partnership with the Philippine STEP UP aims to generate 1,000 quality teachers ready for public school deployment.
Benefits include free tuition and miscellaneous fees, a P4,000 monthly stipend, dormitory allowance, and free LET review, among others.
Upon passing the LET, scholars will be required to serve in public schools for at least three years as return service. Scholarship applications for STEP UP may be submitted via www.stepupph.org until December 4, 2015.
Applicants are advised to read the eligibility criteria, requirements, and application flow before submitting an application. Accepted applicants shall study in the following institutions for a maximum of one year: Xavier University-Ateneo De Cagayan (Cagayan de Oro City), Mariano Marcos State University, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo De Naga University, Cebu Normal University, West Visayas State University, and University of Southeastern Philippines¬ Tagum City and Davao City
